― Automated transport service to be introduced at Anesaki Works factory at Prime Polymer―
Tokyo, April 18, 2022— eve autonomy is pleased to announce that it has started a trial operation of its autonomous transportation service eve auto at Prime Polymer's Anesaki Works factory together with Prime Polymer (headquarters: Tokyo Minato, President: Fujimoto Kensuke) and Idemitsu Kosan (headquarters: Tokyo Minato, Representative Director & CEO: Kito Shunichi).
eve autonomy developed eve auto, an autonomous transport service, to meet the needs of automated transport in confined spaces, including those required in indoor and outdoor environments. The service includes autonomous EVs, set-up consultation and hardware maintenance and software updates. So far, eve autonomy has conducted trial operations at a couple of manufacturing factories at Yamaha Motor. This trial introduction at Anesaki Works factory is the first case other than Yamaha Motor's factories. The company plans to officially launch eve auto service around autumn later this year.
Prime Polymer was established in 2005 as part of a comprehensive tie-up, with investments made by Mitsui Chemicals and Idemitsu Kosan. The company manufactures and sells polypropylene and polyethylene resins, and its products are widely used in automotive materials, packaging materials, industrial materials, and other fields. The company's Anesaki Works plant is located at Idemitsu Kosan's Chiba Complex and this trial introduction of eve auto has made it possible to automate the polypropylene resin sample transport process that was previously run on the premises 30 to 40 times a day, both during the day and at night.
Idemitsu has set forth its corporate vision for 2030, in its Medium-term Management Plan covering the period from FY2020 to FY2022, to become “Your Reliable Partner for a Brighter Future”. This corporate plan aims to accelerate Idemitsu's digital transformation through state-of-the-art autonomous driving technology. eve auto will be introduced as part of the production process of its group company, Prime Polymer, to enhance its work efficiency and create a new work style for employees. Idemitsu aspires to promote business process innovation using digital technologies through co-creation with various startups.
